) is the French Institute of Aeronautics and Space
in Toulouse, France. Main activities of ISAE deal with Aeronautics and
Space, and especially with robotics and drones.
One of these activities is Computer Vision and Image Processing, more
precisely Panoramic Vision. Using a well working and robust panoramic
vision system able to map a structured (or not) environment is still a
challenge, especially under strong constraints: embedded, real-time
processing, etc.
Research activities will be divided into two parts: the first part
will concentrate on SLAM with different features, not only points, but
also lines, surfaces, etc. SLAM will be studied and implemented with
these features. The second part will be to study other panoramic
vision models, more complex, to fit better with real cameras.
Drones and ground robots are available at ISAE for experimentation.
Many activities turn around drones and robotics, especially in terms
of autonomous localization and mapping, Human-Machine Interactions,
etc. Research activities will carry out within the ISAE DMIA Laboratory.
Candidates should have research experience in Panoramic Vision and/or
SLAM. Duration is 1 year, probably 2.
