A 2-year post-doc position available immediately :
Cellular phenotypic screen based on innovative image analysis
The UMR 2587 CNRS-Pierre Fabre (Centre de Recherche en Pharmacologie
Sante, CRPS) includes researchers from a public agency (CNRS) and a
private company (Pierre Fabre Laboratories, IRPF). It is located in
the Institute of Sciences and Technologies of Medicines of Toulouse
(ISTMT). Its main goal is the development of innovative research
projects allowing the discovery of new molecules and new
pharmacological targets acting on cellular division, mainly on
mitosis, in order to discover new anticancer therapies.
Job description : The candidate (male or female) will participate in a
research project whose aim is to set up a cellular phenotypic screen
based on innovative image analysis. The images will be obtained after
pharmacological treatments using multi-labelled human cancer cells and
automated microscopy acquisition. The goal is to establish a data base
of annotated phenotypes at the level of individual cells and of cell
population, a library of indexed reference phenotypic profiles and a
screening engine allowing the identification of new phenotypes raised
by pharmacological molecules or small interfering RNA (siRNAs). The
candidate will work under the responsibility of the manager of the
cellular pharmacology team of the UMR 2587. He (or she) will be in
charge of cell biological experiments, image acquisition processing
and data analysis, within the framework of comparative studies of cell
phenotypes induced by siRNA and small molecules directed against a
shared original target. He (or she) will also participate in the set
up and validation of the annotated phenotypic data base. Moreover, he
(or she) will work in tight relationships with the industrial partners
of the project and in close connection with the other researchers
involved in this project.
Professional requirements : The candidate must have a PhD and a
competence both in cellular biology and quantitative cellular imaging
(image acquisition and processing, data analysis). A good knowledge of
mitosis will be appreciated. The candidate will have to be autonomous,
rigorous, reactive and able to work in a team.
* This multi-laboratory research project is funded by the Direction
Generale des Entreprises (AAP R&D 2007). It is based on the
complementary expertises brought by the four associated partners:
cancer pharmacologists from IRPF, fundamental cell biologists from
CNRS, image and data processing engineers from ARMINES, Image
Processing Software Development skills from ADCIS.
Please send applications including a letter of motivation, a CV, and
names and contact informations of two referees.
